In 2020, Ankomah began to attend Toronto Metropolitan University. During her time at Toronto Metropolitan University Ankomah would take a variety of Criminology and History courses. In 2024, after graduating from Toronto Metropolitan University, Ankomah would begin to attend the University of Toronto Faculty of Information as a Masters of Information candidate in the Archives and Records Management concentration. During her undergraduate and graduate education Ankomah would either hand write or use Google Drive to create and complete her coursework.

Ankomah, AlexieSeries consists of digital and physical records documenting Shiyang Sun’s academic coursework during her undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Toronto from 2019 to 2025. The series notably includes an independent undergraduate research project, which involved quantitative sociolinguistic analysis focused on language variation and change within Chinese language communities in North America, relating to her advocacy in language diversity. Research materials include emails with supervisors, research design notes, interview recordings and materials regarding conference presentations. Additional academic materials include essays, reports, annotated bibliographies, research proposals, and detailed study notes across various courses. Topics covered include literature, political philosophy, art and archeology, theoretical and applied linguistics, archival theories and museum studies.
