Ansovini, DanielaThis series consists of photographic documentation of Brittany’s framing designs and methodologies taken during her position at Newfoundland Canvas. These photos often depict unframed artworks next to chosen frame samples, as a photo was taken after every design consultation and attached to a framing order for reference in the production process. As Brittany served local bestselling artists and well-known art galleries, many reference photos evidence the design process for popular art products or exhibits in St. John’s and throughout Newfoundland. Photo subjects of interest include framing for an 18th century nautical map of Newfoundland, and preparations for an exhibit on the photography of Edith S. Watson - an American photographer who spent time in Newfoundland in the early 1900s.
A variety of artistic mediums and heritage items are represented, such as pastels, watercolour paintings, canvas paintings, cross stitch, rug hookings, doilies, other textile arts, family heirloom objects, and new and vintage photographs. Digital photos are in JPEG and HEIC formats. Paper textual records are Brittany’s accompanying handwritten notes which outline techniques and materials used to frame specific types of items.
