Fonds consists primarily of records generated by So in academic and personal. Academic materials were mainly created during So's work at University of British Columbia and University of Toronto. Materials include notes, sketchbooks, personal correspondence, journals, memos, 1 CD, and some published materials (copies only). The fonds also include digital files containing TIFF files, primarily generated from creative assignments from Emily Carr. Materials are organized in accordance to the personal nature of Alston’s work. The fonds is organized into the following series and subseries:

This item predominantly consists of writings written in a white notebook by So, dated from 2008. "Alston's Super Secret Journal" is written in black marker across the front cover. Graphic materials are included in the pages as well, such as drawings, and printed photos. The subject of the writings vary, as it covers topics such as thoughts, daily life, school, and personal friendships in elementary school in Vancouver.

Files consists of Journals generated by Alston So, between 2008-2025. The topics and themes in the journal's range from daily life, thoughts, feelings, and personal relationships. The files are mostly textual records, but graphic records, such as photographs and drawings, are included among the pages. Journals were mainly generated in Canada, between Vancouver and Toronto. One journal was created in Tokyo, Japan.

Series consists of records documenting So's life and thoughts throughout the years. Writings include topics such as daily experiences, feelings, and rants. It includes journals, notes, and memos. Additionally, some photos are pasted into the journals pages, and include sketches of cartoons. The earliest journal dates to 2008, and there is a gap between 2008 and 2010.

Series contain records related to Alston So's coursework between University of British Columbia, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, and University of Toronto. It consists of records generated from both undergraduate degree in Asian Studies and graduate degree in Masters of Information. Records include physical and digital research notes, drafts, correspondence with professors, graphic material, and a CD consisting of video projects.
